Who are the host, guest of honor, and players?
Every event has three kinds of people:
- Host — runs the event. The creator starts as host; they add questions, share the invite link, resolve outcomes, and optionally turn on cash chip-ins. A host can promote another member to host from Manage.
- Guest of honor — who the event is for. On cash events, a share of each pledge pool goes to them when the group settles up.
- Players — everyone making picks. Players join via the invite link, lock in predictions before deadlines, and can pledge cash on questions they care about when the host enables house rules. Correct picks win points — and, on cash events, a share of the pool if they also pledged.
Who can see an event?
Events are private to your group. There are no public listings, search, or browse — only people you invite can participate.
The host shares a per-event invite link from Manage. Anyone who opens that link and joins can see the questions, make picks, chip in, and view the scorecard. Everyone else stays out.
Does money have to be involved?
No. Every event picks one of two modes when it's created:
- Points only (default) — no money at all. Picks, points, and bragging rights.
- Cash (house rules) — an optional honor-system pool. Players pledge amounts, Hunch keeps the ledger and does the math, and the host collects and distributes everything off-platform per their own payment instructions. Hunch never touches the money, and this mode isn't available in every state.
